He can not own me
I was not made to be
bought or sold
He can not control me
I\’m not a puppet on his strings
He can not direct me
my path is not the one he chose
He can no longer hurt me
my strength surpasses his
You can love me
and I will love you in return
You can gently guide me
and I will follow
You can comfort me when I am needy
and I will be gracious
I have the flame of hope in my heart
and I offer you my gifts
if I may ask of you
a hand to hold on to
a shoulder to cry on
loving arms around me
an ear that will listen
and I will give you
all that I have and
all that I am
and a love so deep
you will never want
for anything again

He can not own me
Here is a story, reported to be true, about a nine-year-old boy who lived in a rural town in Tennessee.
His house was in a poor area of the community. A church there had a bus Ministry that came knocking on his door one Saturday afternoon.
The child came to answer the door and greeted the bus Pastor. The bus Pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to take care of his little brother.
The bus Pastor could not believe what the child said and asked him to repeat it.
The youngster gave the same answer and the bus Pastor asked to come in and talk with him. They went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the foam and springs exposed...
A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole.
Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily.
Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.
A priest was taking a tour of biblical sites, when he came to a beach and saw a boat and a sign advertising,
\”TAKE A BOAT RIDE TO THE EXACT PLACE WHERE JESUS WALKED ON WATER!!!\”
Inquiring about it, he learned that the ride there was free, so he went.
After viewing it, he said to the captain of the boat, \”Ok, I\’m done, let\’s go back now.\” \”That\’ll be $35 to go back.\”
The priest, shocked by the charge, exclaims \”Dang, no wonder Jesus got out and walked!!!\”

Success is failure turned inside out,
God\’s hidden gift in the clouds of doubt.
You never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So trust in the Lord
when you\’re hardest hit…
It\’s when things go wrong
that you must not quit!
